NAME: Nancy MacDonald
HOMETOWN: Roseburg, Oregon, USA
SCHOOL: Seattle Central Community College, Seattle, WA
INTERNSHIP PERIOD: Winter 2005
ABOUT: My career started out in the world of video production. I worked in all aspects of creating commercials at a broadcast television station in Roseburg, Oregon. There came a time when it wasnít fulfilling enough anymore. I packed up and left the town I grew up in to attend Seattle Central's Commercial Photography program.

Having too many photographical interests isn't always a good thing when trying to choose a career path. Some days I lean towards landscapes and architecture. Others it may be advertising or editorial. I have a few business ideas that would combine video, still photography and graphic design.

To live on the Oregon Coast doing something that sparks my creativity would make me the happiest person on earth.

TITLE: Drake Park, Ashland, OR
CAPTION: Ashland, OR is world renowned for its Shakespearean Festival. This park surrounds the Elizabethan Theatre, a true outdoor Shakespearean stage. Hoping the duck on the ledge would stay through a longer hand-held exposure I gave it a try. The duck moved a little but I still enjoy this shot.

TITLE: Guitar slide, Roseburg, OR
CAPTION: One of my co-workers at the television station played in a band. Just for fun I wanted to practice panning the camera. I think being used to following action with a video camera made this shot easier to get. It was taken by an old shed behind the station.

TITLE: Starlite Theater, Winston, OR
CAPTION: Winston, OR is were I grew up. It's about 6 miles south of Roseburg. This is the abandoned Starlite Drive-in movie theater. It was sometimes eerie to watch a movie because there would be these large dark objects moving around on the ground near the screen. It was the cattle on the farmland surrounding the parking lot.

TITLE: Destruction/Construction, Seattle, WA
CAPTION: It still amazes me how true the phrase "a moment in time" really is for photography This was a beautiful old church that I walked by everyday. Then it came crashing down. It was planned to keep part of the structure but the next day after taking this shot the archway was torn down too.
