In Kenya, it's very typical for the Moran (warriors), as well as all the Maasai, to cut their earlobes and extend them by placing weights on them. As the skin heals and the body grows, the earlobes elongate. When they go through bushes and scrub, it could be awkward because bits of skin can get caught on the branches. Therefore, one of their customs is to flip the extra skin over the top of their ears until times of ceremony when they'll completely undo them. Then, the earlobes hang down about three or four inches.
