Art Wolfe has, throughout his career, carefully controlled the printing and framing of his prints. With the advent of digital printing, high quality inks, and archival papers, the control is now exclusively done here in the Art Wolfe studios. Each print is seen and signed by Art before it goes out to our customers.
Harkening back to his arts education at the University of Washington where he excelled in watercolor painting, Art realized that the new digital technology offered the opportunity to print his photographic images with the same sensuous tones and textures realised by painting.
Art has carefully chosen a select group of images for inclusion in his Limited Edition Fine Art Collection. These images are ones that most lend themselves to the look of a watercolor. Once selected they are carefully scanned, then printed on Somerset Velvet watercolor paper using high quality ultrachrome inks. Each print is approved, hand-signed and numbered with a hand deckled edge applied around the perimeter of the image.
For prints that are purchased framed, the quality prints are assembled into solid maple frames containing museum quality UV-protecting glass, and acid-free archival matte boards. Each image is limited to only 150 pieces per size, with prices set to rise at incremental levels. The texture and quality of these images are exceptionally superb representations of Art's photographic and artistic talents.
