Intermediate to Advanced
We will spend the week immersed in photography: actively shooting and discussing what photography means to each of us. Through one on one sessions with Sam and in lively class discussion and critique, we will take time to delve deeply into where we want to go next, as photographers. With the visual wealth of Seattle as our frame, there will be time for shooting each day, with plenty of input regarding locations and opportunities. Architecture, street life, bustling markets, intriguing industrial harbors, and a multitude of natural areas in the city offer many opportunities for expression.

Please bring 10 of your favorite images to share with the class on the first day. These images can be on a disk or external drive, or if you prefer, in print form. Bring your laptop or use the PC's set up in the school to edit your images for the critique sessions. You are invited to share up to 40 images with Sam during your one-on-one session, or simply use the time to discuss your life in photography, how you'd like to craft your vision, or your personal goals.
Don't miss this opportunity to study with one of the finest photographers among us. Sam's particular insight and philosophy will foster fresh thinking about your own work, and what YOUR next step will be. Class members are invited, at no extra cost, to attend Sam's lecture and a reception at the Henry Art Gallery on the University of Washington Campus, Tuesday November 11. Sam will offer a lecture titled, The Life of a Photograph. This lecture is based on his latest book, The Life of A Photograph, which will be released in October by Focal Point, an imprint of National Geographic Books.
